Established in 1905, the British Council’s English Language Assistants (ELA) programme is a major UK mobility initiative that offers paid teaching placements abroad, providing the perfect opportunity to travel, teach and gain invaluable experiences along the way.

Eligibility

The English Language Assistant (ELA) programme is a UK-funded programme intended to support the mobility of people from the UK to destinations overseas.

As such, applications received from eligible candidates will be prioritised for placement in the following order:

In recent years, we’ve been able to allocate placements to the majority of successful candidates.
