Pratt Institute Fellowship in Civic Engagement – Fine Arts Department

Pratt Institute’s Department of Fine Arts invites applications for a one (renewable to two) year Fellowship in Civic Engagement for the 22/23 academic year. This Fellowship is a full-time appointment in support of our ongoing commitment to an equitable and inclusive learning environment.

The selected Fellow will foster interdisciplinary collaboration across the institute and forge relationships with external communities and organizations. In addition to teaching responsibilities in the Fine Arts Department, the selected fellow will develop programming and/or workshops connecting their practice to both internal and surrounding publics. This year, established artists who are active in cross-disciplinary, collaborative, socially engaged practices that seek to address environmental justice and climate crisis are encouraged to apply. We welcome applications from a diversity of practices.

The specific roles and responsibilities of the selected Fellow will be developed in collaboration with the department to best ensure that the selected Fellow is successful in bringing their own vision, expertise, and experience to this fellowship position. Located on Pratt’s historic 25-acre campus in the culturally diverse neighborhood of Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, Pratt is an internationally recognized school of architecture, art, design, and information science, which draws students from diverse cultural and geographic backgrounds. We are committed to advancing diversity and inclusion in our curriculum as well as in the ranks of our faculty, students and staff and seek applicants who can contribute to the furtherance of these goals.

Qualifications

Candidates should have an MFA or equivalent in a relevant field. Successful applicants will be an established artist with a considerable record of active practice in their area of expertise. Previous teaching experience in higher education is preferred but not required.
