Application Deadline:
The Great Streets Retail Small Business Grant is the hallmark grant opportunity for the Great Streets program. The grant has helped hundreds of small businesses renovate their storefront to attract new customers and drive profitability.
The purpose of the grant is to support existing small businesses, attract new businesses, and transform designated commercial corridors into thriving and inviting neighborhood centers.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants include the following:
• For-profit entities (including, but not limited to partnerships, limited liability companies, and corporations) duly organized in the District of Columbia;
• Retail and service-oriented business owners whose location is situated in or within a Great Street Corridor boundary;
• Business owners who have not previously received Great Streets funding for the applicant business property.
• Business owners sharing space1 (Award amount for multiple businesses co-located within same physical address location shall not exceed the $50,000 threshold.);
• Owners of retail and service-oriented business types not included in the Ineligible Applicant list;
• Business owners who previously were awarded Great Streets funding for their original location but are opening a second or third location.
Application Procedure
To be considered for funding, applicants must apply online at the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development GrantVantage Online Application Portal.

- Applications will be submitted online through the GrantVantage system. Applicants will be required to follow a series of steps to submit their application:
- Create an Applicant Profile
- Answer applicant questions
- Complete a Budget Template
- Applicants will send technical support questions to GrantVantage at applicantsupport@grantvantage.com. Technical assistance will be available during business hours 9:00 am – 6:00 pm EST.
