Hospitality Support Grant from the Additional Restrictions Grant Scheme

The Hospitality Support Grant is being made available by Somerset West and Taunton Council as part of the support that has been provided to the Council in the form of the Covid-19 Additional Restrictions Grant.
Grants of up to £5,000 are available to certain sectors operating within the hospitality industry.
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply, applicants must:
- Be registered for business rates in the Somerset West and Taunton District and be in occupation of the premises (if you are currently registered and receiving Business Rates Relief you may still apply)
- Provide food and/or drink to be consumed on the premises, offering in-house food and drink services to the general public
Operate within the following hospitality-based sectors:
- Restaurants
- Public houses/pub restaurants
- Wine bars
- Night Clubs
- Cafes
- Derive 50% or more of the business’s income from in-house services
- Have suffered losses to the business during the Covid pandemic from December 2021 onwards
- Businesses must be trading on 1 November 2021 and must intend to remain open unless Covid 19 Government guidance does not permit this.
Benefits
Awards of £1,000 to £5,000 will be made available. Levels of funding will depend on the business’s rateable value on the date upon which the application is received. Retrospective or future changes to rateable value as the result of an appeal to the Valuation Office will not be taken into account.
The Council will retain the right to amend the value of the awards in the event of over or under subscription. In this event, in determining the amount of funding to be awarded, the Council may also take into consideration other business information including (but not limited to); business rates valuation, the number of employees and business sector.
Application Procedure
The scheme is open to applications from midday on 6 Jan 2022 and will remain open for 14 days until midday on Thursday 20 January 2022. In the event of over-subscription, the Council will retain the right to close the scheme early.
