CSIS Africa Policy Accelerator Program 2024/2025

Application Deadline: August 19th, 2024

The Africa Policy Accelerator (APA) is a professional network that meets monthly to discuss current political, economic, and security developments shaping U.S.-Africa relations. Through discussions and guest speakers, APA addresses challenges and provides career insights.

Early to mid-career professionals from government, NGOs, academia, and the private sector who demonstrate:

  • An interest in U.S.-Africa policy
  • A commitment to professional development and leadership
  • A desire to contribute to and build a lasting network in the field

Eligibility

CSIS is seeking a passionate cohort of professionals to co-create a meaningful learning experience. The selection committee will consider candidates’ professional background and leadership potential, as well as demonstrated interest in Africa policy. Candidates should exhibit exceptional leadership potential, either through experience, promotion, community action, or as witnessed by peers and superiors, and should be able to express how the APA will benefit them as future leaders. In addition, the following requirements should be fulfilled:

  1. Based in the DC metro area
  2. At least two years of full-time work experience in a field related to sub-Saharan African politics, security, development, or economics.

This program is made possible through funding by CISCO and Kosmos Energy.

The APA is a 9-months-long commitment. The current cohort will run from Mid-September 2024 – May, 2025.

The Africa Policy Accelerator is free. CSIS will cover the cost of any dinners and engagements that happen onsite or are pre-arranged. Members are responsible for costs relating to any unplanned offsite convenings.
