The White House welcomes volunteer applicants from all U.S. states and territories, and encourages military-connected family members, educators, and students to apply. The deadline to submit a volunteer application to be a holiday decorator or holiday performer will be on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 5:00 P.M. ET. Selected applicants will be notified on or after Sunday, October 13, 2024 at 5:00 P.M. ET.
All selected volunteers are responsible for their individual travel, accommodations, and personal expenses.
Requirements
- Any individual applying to volunteer at the White House must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
- Individuals are not deemed federal employees while volunteering.
- Volunteer holiday decorators are responsible for their individual travel, accommodations, and personal expenses.
- Volunteers must be available to be in Washington, D.C. the week of Sunday, November 24, 2024. They will be expected to be available from Monday, November 25th to Monday, December 2nd from approximately 6:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. each day.
- Group applications cannot be accepted.
- Those who are notified that they have been conditionally accepted as a volunteer holiday decorator must RSVP by 5:00 p.m. ET Sunday, October 20, 2024.
- Applicants who are conditionally selected to be a volunteer holiday decorator will be required to submit additional information, including personal information, for a background investigation and other security measures.
- Final acceptance to be a volunteer is contingent upon successful processing of a background investigation and other security measures.
- We receive a large volume of applications, and we are not able to select all applicants. We appreciate your understanding!
- There will be no decorating activities on Thanksgiving Day.
VOLUNTEER HOLIDAY PERFORMER APPLICATION
Performers and musical groups, including school bands, choirs, and holiday-themed entertainers, may apply HERE for the opportunity to perform during White House holiday tours. White House holiday tours range from Tuesday, December 3, 2024 to Saturday, December 21, 2024.
