Applicants for the DFP Fall Cycle must be undergraduate seniors, recent graduates, or other individuals (including students in terminal MA programs) in the process of applying for PhD programs in political science. Awarded fellows will receive $5000, disbursed over two years
Eligibility
- Be a member of one of the following underrepresented racial or ethnic minority groups: African Americans, Asian Pacific Americans, Latinos/as, American Indians or Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians.
- Demonstrate an interest in teaching and potential for research in political science.
- Be a US citizen, US national, US permanent resident (holder of a Permanent Resident Card), or an individual granted deferred action status under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program (DACA) at the time of application.Â
Application Procedure
To apply, create an APSA profile and submit your online application. All application materials (transcripts and letters of recommendations) must be submitted through the online application system to be reviewed by the selection committee. You may submit unofficial transcripts or degree audits in lieu of official transcripts for the purposes of application review.
The GRE requirement has been waived for students applying to the Fall 2022-23 APSA Diversity Fellowship Program. APSA recognizes that given COVID restrictions and social distancing guidelines, it may be difficult to safely access in-person GRE testing prior to the application deadline. All applicants should consider that the GRE may still be required for admittance into a political science PhD program.
