Production Training Scheme 2022

Application Deadline: Monday 8th November at 12pm noon.

he Channel 4 Production Training Scheme is for entry level talent who want to break into the media industry and are passionate about making television programmes. In 2022/23 we will be offering paid places at one of the UK’s independent production companies for 12 months. This round, we will be offering placements in scripted television (i.e. drama). For those of you interested in placements with unscripted companies (factual, entertainment, documentaries etc.) another round of the PTS will open later in 2022.

Our first cohort is now open for applications with opportunities available across the UK in Leeds, Sheffield, Liverpool, Glasgow, and London. Companies will be offering placements in one of the two following roles (apart from Black Camel and Hollyoaks/Lime who are offering both): Scripted Development Assistant and Trainee Assistant Script Editor.

They are offering placements with the following companies:

  • Black Camel Pictures, Glasgow
  • Duck Soup, Leeds
  • Euston Films, London
  • The Forge, London
  • Hat Trick, London
  • Hollyoaks (Lime Pictures), Liverpool
  • LA Productions, Liverpool
  • Rollem, Leeds
  • Two Rivers, Glasgow
  • Warp Films, Sheffield/London

Watch a recording of our recent workshop below to find out more about the Production Training Scheme, what makes a great candidate, and how to take your first steps into TV

This is an hour-long session and includes insights from a former Channel 4 trainee, who is now working to create great television, and also one of the independent production companies taking part in the scheme. A BSL interpreter is present and captions are available.

Application Procedure

Please note: we encourage applicants to only apply for one placement and would advise that you focus your efforts into applying for the company that best suits your skills and interests.

Applicants applying for this scheme may already have a degree in Film and Television (or related) or have some previous experience of the television industry through running, work experience or short term placements, but no more than 6 months.

The scheme aims to offer opportunities to those currently underrepresented in the TV industry, so we are particularly keen to hear from Deaf and/or disabled people, ethnically diverse people and people from lower socio-economic groups.

If successful, you’ll spend a week in TV Boot Camp to get things underway. Here, you’ll hear from graduates of the scheme and Commissioning Editors who’ll give you the lowdown on what it takes to succeed. Then your career in TV starts for real at your production company – but we’ll still see you once a month for training to help you further your career.

The scheme will begin in January 2022 and Applications will open on Monday 18th October and close on Monday 8th November at 12pm noon.

If you require any adjustments to complete your application, please get in touch with us at 4skills@channel4.co.uk
