We invite applications for the UK’s first Fellowships in Clinical Artificial Intelligence.
The post duration is 1 year at 2 days/wk, beginning in May 2022. It is open to specialty trainees in the London region and Kent Surrey Sussex region. These fellowships are funded and supported by Health Education England.
Fellows will gain expertise in Clinical Artificial Intelligence (AI) in an integrated pathway alongside their specialty training and implement groundbreaking work in the use of state-of-the-art AI software in live hospital environments.
Eligibility
Essential:
○ You must be enrolled in a UK medical speciality training programme (leading to
CCT) in the London region or Kent Surrey Sussex region at grade ST3 or
above for the duration of the post. GPVTS trainees may apply at grade ST2.
■ You must have the approval of your supervisor and training programme
director to take up the post (please discuss with us directly and early if
problems are anticipated)
■ If you are a trainee in Clinical Radiology, you will typically be expected
to have already passed the FRCR Part 2A exam
○ You must have advanced ICT proficiency (e.g. using advanced functions in
Excel, Word, Powerpoint & Outlook) and the ability to rapidly learn new skills
and solve technical problems
○ You must work energetically as a vital member of an agile multidisciplinary
team including AI specialists, medical physicists, IT, health economists, and
clinicians
○ You must communicate effectively with key stakeholders in clinical AI including:
hospital management, patients, clinicians, regulatory bodies, and software
developers
● Desirable
○ Experience in quality improvement projects, clinical trials, statistical analysis
○ Experience in programming, coding, mathematics (e.g. A Level)
