On behalf of the CAADP-XP4 Consortium, The Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) announces the fourth edition of the Knowledge Management for Agricultural Development Challenge (KM4AgD), taking place from March to August 2024. As in previous years, a cohort of about 30 Knowledge Management enthusiasts will join the KM4AgD Challenge, which includes an 8-days Certification Course in Knowledge Management and Knowledge Society, coaching and support in the development of an organisational KM Strategy, the nomination for the KM4D-Award, and the collaboration on KM Challenges in the agricultural sector as a whole. The team will collectively develop a comprehensive outline for the development of a maiden Africa Knowledge Report.
The Knowledge for Development Partnership´s School of Knowledge Sciences, as well as two recognized African Universities (Makerere University Business School/Uganda and International University of Management/Namibia, are providing the prestigious KM Certificate to the participants. Plans are far advanced for the University of Ghana Business School/Ghana, to join the consortium of universities partnering in this agenda. These Universities have also established Knowledge for Development Centres bridging the gap between academia and industry.
In July 29 to 31 2024, a concluding KM4AgD Conference will be held in the beautiful city of Kigali in Rwanda where all participants will be required to present their knowledge outputs from the Challenge, receive their certificates and physically network with a wider audience within the Science and Partnerships for Agriculture Conference (SPAC). Participation at the conference is optional but open to individuals/organizations interested.

• Kick-off event KM4AgD Challenge: 5 April 2024 – Open to all and, register HERE.
• KM4D Certification Course: 8 April 2024 – 8 May 2024
• 3 peer-learning sessions in May/June 2024 for KM Strategies and KM4D Award nomination
• 4 sessions on the KM4AgD sector challenges knowledge brief development in May/June 2024
• Concluding Conference and KM4D Award Ceremony 29-31 July 2024 in Kigali, Rwanda
Highly reduced fees
Due to the sponsorship of the European Commission, the fees for the participation are highly reduced compared to the fees on the market.
The following fees apply for the modular components of the KM4AgD Challenge
• KM Certification Course (trainings only): 1,090 Euros
• Coaching and support for the organisational KM Strategies, certification of the participant and nomination of the organisation to the KM4D Award: 850 Euros
• Sector Challenges: Facilitation, guidance and support for the collaboration towards the knowledgization of African agriculture and co-development of knowledge policy briefs: 560 Euros.
Interested organisations or individuals can optionally register for the KM Certification Course only. However, to receive the KM Certificate, the development of the organisational KM Strategy/Concept is a requirement.
The participation in the Sector Challenges and in the Conference is optional.
