Peace Corps Campus Ambassadors Program 2021/2022 for university students.

Application Deadline:April 2 2021 at 5 PM PST.

Campus ambassadors are university students who work closely with Peace Corps recruiters to raise the Peace Corps’ profile on campus and introduce the Peace Corps to new and diverse student groups.

As a campus ambassador you will be considered a local expert. After all, you know your campus better than anyone, and you can connect with groups of students who may not yet know the benefits of Peace Corps service.

The opportunity is open to undergraduate and graduate students on any college campus across the U.S.

What campus ambassadors do

As a campus ambassador, you engage in many vibrant forms of student outreach on your campus including developing relationships with professors and student club presidents, sharing Peace Corps with your peers through presentations, tabling and social media, and coordinating events. Follow campus ambassadors using #PeaceCorpsOnCampus.

All campus ambassadors are paired with the Peace Corps recruiter who covers their college or university.

The recruiter will have specific goals for you to work towards but will also look to you for innovative ways to connect with diverse groups on campus.

On average, campus ambassadors work less than five hours per week, and commit for the academic year. The campus ambassador position is unpaid.

Benefits

Through the close relationship with a Peace Corps recruiter, campus ambassadors receive professional mentorship and development, including a letter of recommendation at the end of the year (contingent upon performance).

Campus ambassadors gain résumé-building experience with the Peace Corps, a U.S. federal agency focused on building the capacity of countries abroad. See agency mission.

Serving as a campus ambassador will not directly increase your chances of being selected for Peace Corps service—as it doesn’t build sector-specific work skills—but it can indirectly support your application.

As a campus ambassador, you will work closely with a Peace Corps recruiter who can review your résumé and advise you before you submit an application.

Apply

The 2021-2022 Campus Ambassador application will be open until Friday, April 2, 2021, at 5:00 PM PST. Find and complete the online application.

Please email ambassadors@peacecorps.gov with questions.

Here are a few key points to understand before submitting this application:

  • This is an unpaid, two-semester experience, spanning from the Fall 2021 through the Spring 2022 semesters (or the quarters/blocks therein).
  • Serving as a Campus Ambassador will not guarantee that you will be accepted as a Peace Corps Volunteer if you later choose to apply.
  • Being affiliated with Peace Corps in any way may adversely impact your ability to pursue an internship or career with a U.S. intelligence agency (FBI, CIA, etc).
  • This is a peer-to-peer marketing and outreach position. At the guidance of a Peace Corps Recruiter you will assist with highlighting the Peace Corps opportunity to various student groups by using social media and connecting with your campus community.
  • This position includes in-person and on-campus components. As the Peace Corps Recruiter is not based on your campus, you will need to take great initiative and employ creativity to meet your deliverables in accordance to the guidelines of the Campus Ambassador program and your campus.
  • Participants should observe the social distancing guidelines of their local jurisdiction when completing Campus Ambassador duties.
  • The application deadline is Friday, April 2 2021 at 5 PM PST. We anticipate informing all applicants of their status by June.
