Applications are now open for the 2025 Global Young Scientists Summit.
Global Young Scientists Summit in Singapore brings together bright young researchers and top scientific minds from around the world to discuss science and technology trends, future game changers, and how research could address major global challenges. Young scientists from Finland have once again a chance to be nominated as candidates by Technology Academy Finland, GYSS official partnering organization in Finland.
GYSS is a multi-disciplinary summit that covers topics including chemistry, physics, medicine, mathematics, computer science, and engineering. Speakers at the Summit include recipients of the Nobel Prize, Fields Medal, Turing Award and Millennium Technology Prize – the pre-eminent global technology prize awarded by Technology Academy Finland.
At the Global Young Scientists Summit, participants will take part in lectures, plenary sessions, and panel discussions. They will have the opportunity to interact with and be mentored by speakers in informal small group sessions.
Requirements
Criteria for the GYSS 2025 nominations made by Technology Academy Finland
A candidate must
- be 35 years old or younger in January 2025
- be a researcher in a Finnish university or a Finnish research institute (graduate student or post-doctoral researcher with max 5 years from obtaining PhD degree at the time of the Summit)
- not have a permanent tenured position in academia (in general, scientists at tenured professor level will not be admitted to the Summit)
- speak fluent English
- possess a strong interest in science and research
- display commitment to their principal field of study and to interdisciplinary work
- not have participated on-site in previous GYSS, with the exception for GYSS 2021 and 2022 online editions
Selection process and travel costs
Technology Academy Finland will present a shortlist of candidates from Finland to the Global Young Scientists Summit. The final desicions will be made by GYSS. Technology Academy Finland will make the announcement of final outcome of participant selection to all the applicants from Finland in September 2024.
Selected participants to GYSS 2025 will have their accommodation, ground transport and most meals covered for the duration of the Summit. The international travel to and from Singapore must be paid by the participant’s host institution (university or research center).
How to Apply
The application consists of two documents:
1. A document with all the following information listed:
First name, Last name, Email, Host institution, Gender, Age, Designation (for example PhD student), Nationality, Research area
AND
Your answer to the question: How would you benefit from attending GYSS at this stage in your scientific career? (Max. 150 words)
2. Your CV (max. 2 pages)
