by opportunitydiary

Application Deadline: March 15, 2022.

The Mercatus Center at George Mason University offers three fellowships for graduate students who are interested in political economy: the Adam Smith Fellowship, the Frédéric Bastiat Fellowship, and the Oskar Morgenstern Fellowship. These fellowships are awarded to graduate students in disciplines including, but not limited to, economics, law, political science, sociology, and philosophy. The fellowships are designed to expose students to the key thinkers and ideas in the Austrian, Virginia, and Bloomington schools of political economy as well as how to apply these ideas to pressing policy issues and academic research.

Adam Smith, Frédéric Bastiat, and Oskar Morgenstern Fellows attend colloquia during the academic year. At those meetings, they discuss ideas in political economy and how those ideas relate to their own research with leading scholars and other graduate students. Fellows receive an honorarium, travel and lodging to colloquia, and books and other academic materials related to the fellowship program. They are also eligible to apply for conference and research funding.

Fellows join a large network of graduate students, scholars, and alumni with careers in academia and policy at top institutions across the world.
