Eligible small businesses in Atlanta, GA, Detroit, MI, Minneapolis – St. Paul, MN, Philadelphia, PA, Pittsburgh, PA, cities can apply for Comcast RISE Investment Fund!

Eligibility Requirements

  • Established business operations for 3 or more years.
  • 25 or less full-time and part-time employees
  • At least 51% owned and operated by racially or ethnically diverse individual; including owners of Hispanic, Black, Indigenous, Asian or mixed background and people of color, among others.
  • Areas available
    • Houston, TX (Harris and Fort Bend Counties);
    • Miami, FL (Miami-Dade and Broward Counties);
    • Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN (Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, and Washington Counties);
    • Oakland, CA (City of Oakland);
    • Seattle, WA (King and Pierce Counties);
    • Washington, D.C. (Wards 1-8)
  • Be owned by an individual eighteen (18) years of age or older as of the start of the Program Period that also meets the following eligibility requirements:
    • Owner identifies as Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color;
    • Person who owns the business is the primary decision maker for, and has been actively engaged in the day-to-day operations of the business;
    • Owner owns at least 51% of the equity of said business;
    • Business is independently owned and operated, and or business owner is an independent contractor, self-employed or sole proprietor;
    • Business has engaged in active daily operation for at least three (3) years.


  • 600 grants totaling $6 million will be distributed as follows:
    • 100 small businesses in each city
    • Each business will receive a $10,000 monetary grant
  • Grants will be announced at the end of November 2021 and awarded in December 2021.

Application Procedure

In June 2020, Comcast NBCUniversal announced the development of a comprehensive, multi-year plan to allocate $75 million in cash and $25 million in media over the next three years to fight injustice and inequality against any race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation or ability.
