Application Procedure

GCCC Financial Aid Office Mission: While complying with Federal, State, and Institutional regulations/policies we ensure equality and consistency in the delivery of comprehensive student aid programs to students. Through a sincere commitment to all students and their families, we provide financial resources for the cost of higher education. We provide high-quality service in a fair, sensitive, and confidential environment that supports the entire student body, faculty, staff and our community.

Eligibility Requirements

  1. Be a United States citizen or an eligible non-citizen.
  2. Be a high school graduate or have successfully completed the GED examination.
  3. Be enrolled as a regular degree (.AS, .AA, .AAS, .AGS) or certificate-seeking* student in an eligible program of study.
  4. Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards established by the college.
  5. Demonstrate a level of financial need through completion of the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Application Procedure

  1. Complete the FAFSA indicating Garden City Community College (Federal School Code 001919) in the school selection section. The FAFSA can be completed online at www.fafsa.gov in either English or Spanish. The Student Aid Report (SAR) is mailed or emailed from the processor to the student after submitting a FAFSA. Paper applications are available upon request from the Financial Aid Office at Garden City Community College or by calling 1-800-4-FED-AID.
  2. Have official high school transcript or GED scores on file with the Admissions Office.
  3. Provide all official transcripts from any previously-attended college, university, or technical schools.
  4. Meet all student eligibility requirements previously listed.
  5. Provide documentation requested by the Financial Aid Office.
  6. Complete a new FAFSA each year.
